Tremendous eatery. Dishes are born of fine ingredients and the menu well conceived. Plating and visual appeal are on point. The tastes are great. Remarkable flavors were present in most of the dishes we tried recently. The beets, not so much, but the salmon tartare and perogies were great. The beef Wellington was a bit more gravy-esque than I'd imagined, but tasty and packed with flavor. Arguably the best tasting churro with a great texture contrast I've had in ages. Soft and warm on the inside with a slight crunch on the outside. Very tasty. Highly recommend!

This restaurant is a little, beautiful gem in the heart of Des Moines! The ingredients are locally grown, the recipes delicate and extremely tasteful, the staff is competent and friendly, and the overall experience remarkable and extremely pleasant! There's a convenient parking lot in front of the place and the prices are absolutely reasonable fir the high level of quality they actually offer. My Free-Range Chicken Burrito was really exquisite and yummy. We discovered it a few days ago, thanks to some close friends of ours and now... they have two more faithful customers! Thumbs up!

We each got the restaurant week special and it was fabulous. Service was lackluster-friendly but inattentive. We waited over 10 min for water or anyone to come ask what we wanted to drink.

Had a very incredible Easter brunch. From the special Bloody Mary to lemon bread pudding with basil ice cream, the food was outstanding. The service was delightful and my partner really enjoyed having freshly brewed French press decaf. I especially appreciate a menu built on local products. This was a first visit. I will be happy to go again.

We went here for the Valentine’s Day prix fixe menu. The food is amazing and the dessert was to die for. It is spendy but it is worth it for a special occasion if you love food.

Went here last night on a date. The atmosphere was very nice and elegant, the service was top notch and the food was AMAZING! Will definitely be back! We had the braised brisket, purple potatoes, spaghetti squash, and shrimp. I’m not a huge spaghetti squash person but it was awesome!

Best place in all of Iowa to go for a dinner date! Best burger I ever ate in my life! Suman Hoque is an incredible culinary expert, he turns food into a true art form! I cannot recommend enough!

My husband and I celebrated his birthday with the NYE 4 course meal. The food was fantastic! I can't say enough good things about the meal. Our server forgot to bring a drink we ordered, but she was so sweet that we didn't even say anything. We weren't charged for it, so no big deal. I do wish you sold a better N/A beer than O'Doul's. With all the great options out there (Athletic, Brew Dog, Exile Ruthie N/A, etc. it would be great if you updated that choice for those of us who don't drink, but would like something better than O'Doul's.

A casual traveler might assume Des Moines to be lacking unique restaurants and healthy options. Even residents of the capital city are impressed by the offerings at this downtown gem. The menu is not quite as generous as portions are, but palettes of all types are sure to be pleased. David provided top-notch service but will sadly be relocating so unavailable to take care of future diners.

Such a wonderful dinner at HoQ! This was our second date night out at HoQ, this time for our anniversary. Sarah, the manager and our server could not have been better. It's so great to support a local establishment that is well managed and people work hard to please their guests. The food was fabulous! It was a great mix of known and lesser known dishes. The wine selection was very thorough. We love the farm to table approach. We will return!!!
